Secret to Applying Decals

As translated from the Dolpa File vol. 2:

1. Clean off the eye well with acetone. Make sure to remove all dust and particles from the place you want the decal. Let it dry completely. Having a clean eye well increases the adhesiveness of the decal.

2. Cut out the eye decal with scissors. Try to cut as close to the eye print as possible. Keep the eyebrow with the eyebrow. If you seperate the eyebrow it'll be very hard to position them correctly on the face.

3. Fold a tissue (or tissue paper) and put it on a small plate. Wet the tissue with water just enough to soak it. Discard excess water. If you have too much water, the decal will curl on itself.

4. Put the decal face up on the tissue and let it sit for 10 seconds. The water will seperate the decal from the backing.

5. Apply the decal on the head with the backing to the face. The decal should be seperated from the backing easily. Hold the edge of the decal (with a chopstick or some rounded object) and slide off the backing. Do this for the other side of the eye too.

6. Apply water on both thumbs and move the decals around gently until they are even. Check the doll's image in the mirror to really tell if they are even.

7. After the decal is set, take a Qtip and gently roll it from the center out to the side to roll out any bubbles under the decal.

8. Seal the decal with acrylic paint sealer. Let dry and apply a second coat.

9. Remove any access sealer from the eye. Do not get acetone on the eye as it will melt the decal away.
